Residential complex Witten

In Cooperation with GAP Solution GmbH, we have developed an integrated wall structure using solar energy, which makes the serial renovation of multi-storey residential buildings to NET-ZERO standards significantly easier and more cost-effective. In Witten, North Rhine-Westphalia, around 8,000 m2 of façade space was renovated, raising the energy efficiency class from E to A+. A total of 112 residential units, which are divided into 3 to 8 storey buildings, were renovated.

The entire wall structure, including panels using solar panels, has a high degree of prefabrication and is mounted directly onto the existing building shell without scaffolding. Compared to conventional construction methods, this enables time savings of up to 80%. In addition to providing integrated PV modules, the solar honeycomb façade offers passive solar use by enveloping the building with a temperature-controlled air cushion. This significantly improves insulation performance without cost-intensive technology, which contributes to reducing the building's own energy consumption.
